The Mojo Vision company has created a prototype for impressive smart contact lenses that are ready to go to the testing stage. This contact lens has been developed for seven years to date, and includes the smallest microral display in the world with a diameter of 0.5 millimeters and 14,000 pixels per inch (through Forbes). This technology, of course, is centered around eye control. Mojo Vision has created sophisticated eye tracking technology, making him sensitive to every eye movement.
Although this kind of innovation sounds like something that will be far from the world, company vice president Steven Sinclair told Forbes that it would not be “a way out in the future.” The lens needs to go through the testing of the test in advance within the company, as well as through the FDA. The results can be unpredictable considering how new this technology is, so there is no solid launch date for contact lenses.
The first test of the smart contact lens Mojo Vision
Mojo Vision has completed the first successful test on the CEO, Drew Perkins, as reported by Cnet. He uses contact lenses and tries some applications developed for devices. For now, contact lenses are only used in one eye, but the company hopes to integrate the second lens to make 3D graphics. So far, Perkins only use contact lenses for one hour each time.
The next step in Mojo’s vision for the lens is to test it to other companies from time to time. This initial test is mainly to ensure technology, such as radio signals, functioning. The longer wear test has not been done. Drew Perkins told Cnet that the initial testing would help improve contact lenses until they could be submitted to the FDA for market approval, which would then allow it to be sold to the public.
What do you do smart contact lenses?
Smart contact lenses use Augmented Reality (AR) technology. This usually consists of graphics, which are displayed as overlay to reality. You may already use this kind of technology with several snapchat filters that make models to objects or faces through a camera lens. Smart contact lenses will do something similar and overlay graphics to display information about the world around you.
Some uses for smart contact lenses may track your sports regimen, get directions, see information about the stores or restaurants that you see, and more. This type of technology has the potential to replace a smartphone, because all functionality is basically not touching. Mojo Vision Smart Contact Lens also includes separate accessories, which act as the main hub for the CPU process. Because this will be too big to load into contact lenses, it will be something like a necklace or headwear that directly communicates with the lens using a 5GHz radio frequency.
