The majority of vitamins and other nutritional supplements do not increase their age or protect a person’s heart health, the great analysis of Johns Hopkins University has found. There are two exceptions to findings related to folic acid and omega-3 fatty acid supplements, however, while a combination of vitamins and minerals is very popular related to an increased risk of stroke.

More than half of Americans take at least one vitamin or nutritional supplement every day, according to this research, amounting to around $ 31 billion spent every year for this free sold supplement. Most of the money might be in vain, researchers concluded after conducting ‘big’ analysis of 277 existing clinical trials.The good news is that taking most of this supplement is not related to all types of health damage. The disadvantage is that most of these supplements are also not related to all types of heart health protection or increased age, potentially making them waste money.

There are two potential exceptions for findings: folic acid and omega-3 fatty acid supplements. The researchers found the relationship between omega-3 fatty acids and eating low-salt diet, and also ‘may’ find health benefits associated with taking folic acid. On the other hand, consuming vitamin D and calcium combo supplements is associated with a slight increased risk of stroke.More and more studies have found that most adults do not need to consume vitamins or other food supplements – in fact, some researchers have previously found a relationship between certain supplements and decreased age. Although it remains in a fight, experts mostly recommend that nutrition comes from healthy food, not pills and tablets, to get the benefits.

Study of Johns Hopkins University see the potential effects of large amounts of vitamins, minerals, and other supplements in various health conditions, including heart disease, stroke, and heart attack. Collectively, the analyzed clinical trials consist of more than 992,000 people. In addition to supplements, this study also sees different diet, including the Mediterranean diet, a modified and lower saturated fat diet, a higher diet, a higher diet of omega-6 fatty acids, and a low sodium diet.

While the calcium and vitamin D combo supplements were found to increase the risk of stroke by 17 percent, folic acid was found to reduce the risk by 20 percent. Low sodium diet reduces the risk of death by 10 percent and takes fish oil supplements to reduce heart attacks and the risk of disease by 7 percent.
